British indie artist Jayd (F.K.A Courtney Jayd Lumsden) is a born creative. Having lived in France as a dance captain/entertainer, the now Luxembourg based artist has always been surrounded in dance and theatre, with creativity flowing through her veins. Now focusing on her music career, the dancer, songwriter and self-taught producer showcases her soulful, velvet vocals, storytelling lyrics and atmospheric, captivating soundscapes.
2021 saw the multi-talented artist learning towards a more indie pop sound, with her infectious melodies and impressive musicianship delivering polished sound. Experimenting with more instruments and new techniques, Jayd keeps every release fresh and exciting. Blowing the dust off her trumpet and recording some interesting samples, the songwriter began creating indie-pop records that fit nicely in the playlists of fans of Jeremy Zucker, Taylor Swift and LANY.
Written from the heart, her music is real and relatable, touching on themes ranging from mental health and anxiety to toxic relationships. She confides, “I am good at remembering stories people have told me and putting myself into someone’s shoes and writing from an honest place as if it was me living through it.” Her latest EP Down Day, delves deeper into these themes, resulting in an authentic release where listeners can connect with on a personal level.
With echoing instrumentation and layered harmonies and textures, Jayd’s music pulls you in from the very first note, holding you enchanted till the very end. Having garnered acclaim from BBC Introducing, Jayd’s ever-evolving sound is set to make some waves in 2022.
